Election Police Deployed for Upcoming Elections
Kathmandu: The ‘Election Police’ recruited for the upcoming elections on March 5 are being deployed to the field starting today.
After completing a 10-day training following their recruitment and selection, 149,000 ‘Election Police’—also known as temporary police—are now heading out to work alongside security teams from the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force.
On February 1, the Nepal Police issued appointment letters to 133,980 personnel, while the Armed Police Force issued them to 15,110 personnel.
In accordance with the Integrated Security Plan-2026, the Nepal Army has already been mobilized since February 4 to ensure the House of Representatives elections are conducted in a clean, free, fair, and fearless environment.
The Nepal Police and the temporary police will secure the inner circle of the polling stations. The Armed Police Force will take responsibility for the second tier of the security perimeter. Meanwhile, the Nepal Army will handle security duties from the outermost layer of the security circle.
