Former Prime Minister Sushila Karki Praises 'Ek Mutthi Badal' at Private Screening

A private screening was held for the cinema 'Ek Mutthi Badal', which is scheduled for release this coming Friday, Jeth 1. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including former Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Congress leader Sunil Kumar Thapa, Sangeeta Thapa, journalist Narayan Wagle, and director Aman Pratap Adhikari.

While exiting the theater, former Prime Minister Sushila Karki shared that she deeply enjoyed 'Ek Mutthi Badal'. "I am someone who watches very few films; even when I do, I usually prefer older cinema. However, I was invited by the producer's mother, as we belong to the same community of judges, and I decided to attend. Regarding the film, everyone will evaluate it from their own perspective," she remarked.

Karki further observed, "I see this as an art cinema that effectively portrays modern society and the stories of middle-class families. It captures a narrative spanning just two days, highlighting the conflict between generations—the traditional values of parents versus the 'Gen Z' perspective of their children. The film beautifully captures this clash between modern lifestyles and traditional family structures."

She also noted the realistic portrayal of economic disparities within families. "The story shows a daughter from a middle-class background married into a family of a different economic status, where the son-in-law feels somewhat marginalized. It also touches on parents who sacrifice everything to send their children abroad for education, only to face the complexities of social inequality later. The film does an excellent job of showcasing these family dynamics."

During the event, leader Sunil Kumar Thapa mentioned that the film carries a poignant message. Director Aman Pratap Adhikari also lauded the project, calling 'Ek Mutthi Badal' the best film produced in Nepal to date and urging others to recommend it to anyone interested in Nepali cinema.

Directed by Sahara Sharma in her debut, the film features an ensemble cast including Aanchal Sharma, Nisha Sharma, Usha Rajak, Bhima Mainali, Asmita Gautam, Shekhar Chapagain, Manish Niraula, Sahayog Adhikari, Gaurav Bista, and Aviral Pratap Adhikari. The film is produced by Abhimanyu Dixit, with Nikun Shrestha as executive producer. The international production team includes Sara Fazilat, Samipya Raj Timalsena, and Anup Poudel.

The technical crew consists of Linh Dan Nguyen Phan (Cinematography), Yashaswi Sabharwal (Production Design), Gaurav Mallik (Editing), Agrani Thakuri Jha (Art), Janaki Kadayat (Costumes), and Kirti Joshi (Makeup). Marna James served as the chief assistant director, supported by Sharmila Ale and Meera Khadka.

Produced under the banners of Gounthali Entertainment and Mon Production, the film is notable for having women in leadership roles across nearly all departments. It will be distributed across Nepal by RR Films.ek-mutthi-badal-team-1778564046.jpeg
