Curfew Extended in Birgunj Following All-Party Meeting to Restore Peace

Rautahat. An all-party meeting was held on Tuesday at the District Administration Office, Parsa, to reduce the tension in Birgunj following an incident in Dhanusha. The meeting, chaired by Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, made several important decisions to maintain peace and social harmony in the district.

The meeting decided to form a "Permanent Harmony Mechanism" to maintain social and religious harmony in the long term. This group will work to resolve future disputes and strengthen brotherhood.

The main decisions of the meeting are:

  • Mandatory Permission: Prior permission from the District Administration Office is now mandatory to organize any rallies, demonstrations, or public programs.
  • Legal Action: The local administration will identify and take legal action against individuals or groups who spread religious hatred, share misleading information, or encourage violence through social media or other means.
  • Role of Media: Media persons have been requested to report news responsibly and in a balanced way to ensure religious and social harmony are not disturbed.

Chief District Officer Dahal expressed confidence that the situation in Birgunj will soon return to normal through the implementation of these decisions. He also made a special appeal to all residents to stay calm and maintain the long-standing social harmony.

Meanwhile, considering the security situation, the administration has extended the curfew in Birgunj until 6 PM this evening. The administration has urged people not to leave their homes during the curfew and to cooperate with security personnel.
