Chhath Festival Should Bring Light of Unity and Love to Society: UML Leader Mahesh Basnet
Kathmandu: CPN (UML) leader Mahesh Basnet extended his best wishes for the Chhath festival, expressing hope that the occasion would bring energy, prosperity, and peace to everyone's lives.
In a goodwill message shared on social media, Basnet described Chhath as a festival connected with the "sun of faith, the water of trust, and the resolve of dedication."
He wished that the rays of the setting and rising sun, to which devotees offer Arghya (offering), would fill all families with health, good fortune, and contentment. He also expressed his hope that the reflection of devotion and purity seen at the rivers, ponds, and ghats would become a "light of unity and love in our society."
The Chhath festival is predominantly celebrated in the Terai-Madhesh region but has been increasingly observed across the hilly areas as well, evolving into a major national festival in Nepal.
