Traffic Police Play a Crucial Role in Maintaining Road and Public Safety: CDO Paudel
Kathmandu — Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu, Ishwar Raj Paudel, has stated that the Nepal Police are at the forefront of maintaining overall peace and security in the country.
Speaking on Monday at a program organized to hand over magic lights to the Metropolitan Traffic Police, he emphasized the significant role of traffic police in road safety, passenger security, and vehicle management.
CDO Paudel recalled that traffic police faced difficult circumstances following the Gen Z movement but noted that the situation has now improved and the traffic police have returned to the streets in a stronger manner.
“After the Gen Z movement, initially the traffic police were not on the roads—there were no vehicles, no uniforms, and burned structures could be seen everywhere,” he said. “But now, traffic police presence can be seen at every intersection.”
Speaking at the same program, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nawaraj Adhikari of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office highlighted the importance of positive thinking to improve relations between citizens and the police.
He said, “Even if we come with the thought and positive mindset of how to improve the relationship between citizens and the police, that itself is a great asset for us.”
The program also included the handover of magic lights with the objective of making traffic management more effective.
