First Look of Surakshya Panta and Devendra Bablu’s ‘Buki’ Released
The first look of the movie ‘Buki,’ directed by Bibash Kumar Majhi and Mohan KC, has been unveiled along with the announcement that its first premiere show will be held in Japan.
The production team fixed the date and venue for the Japan premiere while releasing glimpses of the film’s lead characters. The movie’s ‘World Premiere’ is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Osaka, Japan. According to the poster, the special screening will take place at the ‘Minato Kumin Center’ from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. This premiere is being viewed as a significant step in expanding the international market for Nepali cinema.
The released poster prominently features lead actors Surakshya Panta, Devendra Bablu, Roshni Karki, and Prakash Ghimire. The background shows a volleyball net, court, and players, making it clear that the film is based on sports (specifically women’s volleyball) and a story of struggle. Additionally, the Himalayan landscape and local lifestyle are also captured in the poster.
In the poster, actress Surakshya Panta is seen in sports attire wearing a jersey labeled ‘Nepal,’ celebrating victory by lifting a trophy. This suggests her character undergoes a challenging and inspiring sporting journey. The other actress, Roshni Karki, appears in a simple and cheerful look.
Similarly, popular singer and actor Devendra Bablu is seen in a jersey with a serious expression. His look indicates he plays the role of a responsible player or a significant character. Veteran actor Prakash Ghimire appears in a Dhaka Topi as a guardian or mentor, while Laxminath Timalsina is presented in a red tracksuit with the demeanor of a sports coach or team leader.
‘Buki’ is a special flower that blooms in the meadows of the Himalayan region during the rainy season. According to the production side, the film tells a story about the deep relationship between sports and nature. The movie was filmed in the scenic areas of Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dhorpatan in Baglung.
Presented by Himalayan Musical Event Management and Films, the movie stars Surakshya Panta, Devendra Bablu, and Roshni Karki in lead roles, with performances by Prakash Ghimire, Laxminath Timalsina, Nisha Bajgain, Ghanu Joshi, Anu Dahal, Sandeep Babu Lohani, and others.
The film is produced by Laxman Sapkota, Amisha Kaucha Thapa Magar, and Ramesh Thapa, with Prakash Ale and Rajan KC serving as executive producers. Rajesh Thapa and Basundhara Kharel are the creative producers, while Jitu Thapa and Sunil Budhathoki are co-producers.
The film features Ashuka Aryal as associate director, Acharya Gopal as chief assistant director, and Tigris, Nisha Dahal, and Ujwal Adhikari as assistant directors. Bikas Gandarbha is the DOP, and the film was edited by Bhupendra Adhikari.
With makeup by Shyam Malla and production heading by Thamman Thapa, the publicity design for the film was done by Rakesh Dahal. While an official release date has not been set yet, the production team aims to release the film in theaters nationwide within 2026.
