Brown Sugar Found Hidden Inside Sports Shoes at Biratnagar Airport

Biratnagar — Brown sugar hidden inside a pair of sports shoes bound for Kathmandu was seized during a routine security check at Biratnagar Airport. A young man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the District Police Office, Morang, suspicious material was detected late last night when cargo items sent to the airport's departure terminal via Expo Express Courier—located in Mahendrachowk, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-9—were passed through an X-ray machine.

Upon inspecting the shoes, police found 18.48 grams of a brown substance resembling brown sugar, wrapped in black plastic and concealed inside the shoe soles.

Police stated that the cargo was being dispatched to Kathmandu under the name of Raghav Jha, a resident of Biratnagar-5. Sushant Khadka, 24, also from Biratnagar Metropolitan City-5, who had brought the items for dispatch, has been taken into custody for further investigation.

The District Police Office, Morang, informed that further investigation into the incident is underway.
