Beauty Itself Becomes the Cause of Nepal's Ruin: Durga Prasai

Kathmandu. Social activist Durga Prasai has expressed concern that Nepal's natural beauty is on the verge of becoming the cause of the country's destruction. Through a Facebook post, he stated that the beauty of Nepal—its Himalayas, greenery, and water resources—is in danger due to foreign self-interest and a corrupt system.

Citing historical and mythological examples, he mentioned how Helen's beauty led to the Trojan War, Menaka's charm broke the penance of sages, and Mohini's allure led to the end of the Asuras (demons). He argues that when self-interest mixes with beauty, it becomes a cause of destruction, not a blessing—a pattern he sees repeating today.

Prasai alleges that foreigners have fed the Nepali people "political opium," dividing them into Dalits, Janajatis, Madhesis, Pahades, Indigenous, and Original Inhabitants, making them prisoners of foreign interests and a corrupt system through various temptations.

He states that his campaign is to save Nepal's "truth, culture, and civic soul," carrying this pain in his heart. He believes that only if truth survives within the beauty will Nepal become immortal and endure forever. His dream is to leave a peaceful and prosperous Nepal for future generations.
