‘Asar Maas’ Song Recorded: A Touching Tribute to Soil, Nature, and Farmers

A heart-touching and awareness-raising song titled ‘Asar Maas’, composed by the multi-talented Sikkim-based artist Jeevan Sharma, has been recorded at Seva Recording Studio in Kathmandu.

The song beautifully captures the essence of soil, the greenery of farmland, and the sweat of hardworking farmers. It features vocals by popular singer Smita Pradhan, lyrics by journalist and songwriter Geeta Adhikari, and music arrangement by Raju Karki.

After the recording, singer Smita Pradhan expressed her feelings enthusiastically: “This song was not just something to sing, but something to feel. One can sense the fragrance of the soil, the love of the farmer, and the call of nature in it.”

Director of Seva Recording Studio and singer Ashok Mukarung praised the song, saying, “Collaborations with Jeevan Sharma always lead to special creations. ‘Asar Maas’ is yet another powerful piece.”

Jeevan Sharma, who continues to write across literature, art, and music from Sikkim, is known for popular songs like ‘Aau Haami Prem Garaun’, ‘Danda Pakha Hariyali’, ‘Phool Jastai’, and ‘Jatai Manchhe’. He has composed music for over five dozen songs and written more than two dozen well-loved tracks.

Songwriter Geeta Adhikari shared, “I had always wanted to write a song that reflects the soil, nature, and farmers. Through music composer Jeevan Sharma, this vision is becoming reality. The song blends the farmer’s hard work, the rhythm of nature, and the essence of the month of Asar.”

According to singer Smita Pradhan, the song will be released soon. “‘Asar Maas’ is not just a song,” she said, “but a vibration of the soil, a tale of farmers, and a melodious love for nature.”

Smita Pradhan, a talented singer from Kalimpong, India, gained national attention by participating in The Voice of Nepal Season 5. Although she was eliminated in the knockout round, she impressed both coaches and audiences and remains active in the field of music.
