Allegations of Character Assassination by Mainstream Media

KATHMANDU. Khagendra Sunar, coordinator of the Dalitka Lagi Dalit Abhiyan (Campaign for Dalits by Dalits), has alleged that the so-called "mainstream media and journalists" have assassinated his character.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, he stated that after his name appeared on the list of potential ministers, the media maligned him by writing untruths and fabrications.

Sunar equated the media's actions to the recent horrific incidents of violence against Dalits, saying that his "collective murder" was carried out by the media, similar to the collective murder of Nawaraj BK's group in Jajarkot and the collective rape of Samjhana Kami in Bajhang.

He said, "In Jajarkot, the entire village turned out and collectively killed Nawaraj BK and six others. In Bajhang, Samjhana Kami was collectively raped.

I have become the victim of collective rape by those journalists in Kathmandu who are educated, well-read, considered intellectuals and scholars, and who call themselves the mainstream. I have been collectively murdered due to the collective attack by those who call themselves the mainstream and scholars."

Furthermore, he challenged anyone to arrest him with handcuffs if they could find even the slightest evidence to substantiate the accusations against him. He also asserted that he was not, is not, and will not be in the race for a ministerial position.
