After Obstruction at Bancharedanda, Metropolis Appeals: Keep Waste Safely at Home
Kathmandu,October 31 - Citing the inability to dispose of waste due to obstruction by locals at the Bancharedanda Landfill Site, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has appealed to city residents to safely keep their household waste inside their homes or compounds until another notice is issued.
The Metropolitan's Environment Department issued a notice today, also requesting citizens not to carelessly dump waste on roads or public places.
Locals at Bancharedanda have blocked the vehicles carrying waste, claiming that previous agreements have not been implemented. With the prevention of waste disposal, the garbage problem in Kathmandu has flared up again.
The Metropolitan has urged residents to cooperate during this difficult situation and to keep their waste safely at home for the sake of public health and environmental protection.
