Action Recommended to Remove Long-Absent Joint Secretary from Government Service

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration has demanded an explanation from an employee who has been absent from the office for a long period.

The ministry issued a public notice initiating legal proceedings against a Joint Secretary-level employee who has been absent for more than 90 days.

According to the ministry, attempts were made to reach the employee through various channels, but no contact could be established, nor was any information received. The official has been absent from the office since January 25, 2026 (Magh 11, 2082 BS).

Key Detail: In accordance with the Civil Service Act, 1992 (2049 BS), conditions warrant advancing disciplinary action to remove the individual from government service. Consequently, the employee has been given 15 days to present a defense with satisfactory grounds and evidence.

The ministry further stated that it has intensified investigations and search efforts regarding the status of employees who are absent from office, residing abroad, or have been out of contact for an extended period.
