Aanchal Sharma becomes bride for the second time

The much-anticipated film ‘Ek Mutthi Badal’ premiered on Wednesday with a visually striking and culturally rooted celebration that reflected the spirit of the film itself.

Lead actor Aanchal Sharma made a memorable entrance clad in a red bridal gown and flowing veil designed by Manish Rai, accompanied by a women-led traditional Naumati Baja procession.

Directed by Sahara Sharma, the premiere foregrounded women’s presence and perspectives much like the narrative of the film, transforming the event into an extension of its cinematic world.

In the film, Aanchal portrays Maili, a bride-to-be navigating the emotional complexities, expectations, and intimate realities surrounding marriage.

Through her journey, ‘Ek Mutthi Badal’ explores deeply personal experiences of womanhood with tenderness and nuance. The film was widely praised by attendees for its layered storytelling and its grounded portrayal of a middle-class Nepali family.

Speaking at the premiere, director Sahara Sharma said, “Ek Mutthi Badal is rooted in the emotions and experiences of women that often remain unseen in Nepali cinema.”

Producers Abhimanyu Dixit, Samipya Raj Timalsena, Nikun Shrestha, and Anup Poudel joined the director in welcoming guests to the premiere.

Audience members commended the film for its evocative visual language, compelling performances, and emotionally resonant storytelling.

The evening concluded with an interaction session with the media featuring the cast and crew, where conversations centered around independent filmmaking, representation, and the importance of culturally rooted narratives in contemporary cinema.

“We’ve made a film with heart. Now it is your turn to watch it, talk about it, and help these stories reach more people,” added producer Abhimanyu Dixit.
‘Ek Mutthi Badal’ is set for nationwide release this Friday, with tickets now available for online booking.
