A Brave Woman’s Story of Love and Dedication Unfolds on ‘Acting Star’

Kathmandu. A touching and inspiring performance based on the real-life story of Srijana Subedi and her late husband Vivek Pangeni was recently presented on the popular reality show ‘Acting Star’. After Vivek was diagnosed with brain cancer, Srijana’s unwavering love, sacrifice, and dedication were powerfully portrayed by contestant Nabina Ranabhat. She was supported in her performance by Dipesh Khatri and Anup Bhandari.
From Vivek’s treatment to his final farewell, Srijana’s emotional journey moved thousands of viewers. Nabina brought those emotions to life so vividly that the entire studio was left in silence. Especially during the final scene — where she portrayed Srijana bidding farewell to her husband — many on set were reportedly in tears. Filming even had to be paused for a while due to the emotional impact.
Prior to the performance, Nabina had the opportunity to meet Srijana Subedi in person. During the meeting, Srijana recounted the entire sequence of events and gave her permission to publicly share her painful yet inspiring story. The show’s team then developed the performance based on her account.
By bringing such true-life stories to the stage, ‘Acting Star’ appears to be ushering in a new era of realism and emotional depth in Nepali television.
