50 People Missing in Sarlahi in the Past Month: Only 23 Found

A fact has come to light revealing that 50 people have gone missing in Sarlahi over the past month. According to the monthly progress report released by the District Police Office, Sarlahi, only 23 of those missing have been found, while the whereabouts of the remaining 27 people still remain unknown.

As per the police report, those missing include 17 women, 3 boys, 26 girls, and 4 senior citizens, with no reports of missing adult men registered during this period. The details released by the District Police Office show that young girls make up the highest number of missing persons.

During the month of Asar, the police reported finding a total of 23 people, comprising 9 women, 1 boy, 12 girls, and 1 senior citizen. Less than half of the missing individuals have been located so far, and the District Police Office stated that search efforts are ongoing for the remaining 27 people who are still out of contact.

Given the significantly high number of missing young girls, there is an urgent need to increase parental supervision, ensure child safety, and raise awareness at the community level. While the District Police Office mentioned that searching for missing individuals remains a top priority, missing persons cases in Sarlahi are not a new phenomenon, as monthly reports from the district police over recent months have consistently shown incidents of missing women, children, and senior citizens.

Although some individuals are located each month, a significant number continue to remain missing, making the high rate of missing young girls particularly alarming. Since missing person cases are not dropping as expected, stakeholders emphasize that alongside police search operations, there must be more effective monitoring of children by families, schools, and local authorities, increased community awareness programs, and stronger coordination among relevant agencies, especially considering the risks associated with the open border with India in this border district.
