21,000 Doses of Cholera Vaccines Sent to Rasuwa

Kathmandu: Following an increased risk of cholera after floods and landslides, 21,000 doses of cholera vaccines have been dispatched to Rasuwa.

The vaccines, received with the assistance of the World Health Organization (WHO), were flown to Rasuwa on Sunday morning via a Nepal Army helicopter.

Minister for Health and Population Nisha Mehta has directed authorities to immediately deploy medicines, vaccines, health supplies, and essential public health services to mitigate the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases in flood-affected areas.

Health officials reported that, in line with the minister's directive, efforts are underway to send vaccines and medicines to affected regions, heighten disease surveillance, focus on safe drinking water and sanitation, and mobilize necessary healthcare personnel.

Due to damage caused by flooding to water sources and distribution systems, the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases has escalated. Consequently, priority is being given to prevention, early detection, and treatment management in the affected regions.
