2 Missing in Maiwakhola as Tractor Overturns

Taplejung: Two people have gone missing in the Maiwakhola River after a tractor carrying logs overturned in Taplejung.

According to Bindeshwar Yadav, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Taplejung, the missing individuals are driver Sameer Baraili and passenger Anil Nalbo. On Monday morning at 2:40 AM, the tractor—traveling from Hangpang toward Dobhan along an inner road section connecting Athrai Tribeni Rural Municipality and Meringden Rural Municipality—fell approximately 15 meters off the edge of a bridge into the Maiwakhola River.

Police reported that the tractor, whose registration number has not yet been identified, was swept roughly 20 meters downstream from where it fell and was seen on a riverbank. However, driver Baraili and passenger Nalbo could not be found.

Information about the incident was provided to the Dobhan Area Police Office by 24-year-old Sameer Nalbo, who was also riding on the tractor. Following his report, a deployed police team gathered preliminary details and conducted an initial assessment of the incident.

The District Police Office informed that a police team led by an Inspector has been deployed for further investigation and to search for the missing individuals.
