Bhotekoshi Flood Update: 168 People from Madhesh Province Still Missing

Janakpur — A total of 168 people from Madhesh Province remain out of contact following the flood in the Bhotekoshi River. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhu Dhakal, spokesperson for the Madhesh Province Police Office, out of the 199 total reported missing across the province to date, 30 individuals have come into contact while one death has been confirmed.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Santosh Chaudhary of Saptari, who was working at the Nuwakot Hydropower Project. Spokesperson Dhakal informed that his body was identified and handed over to his family.

According to Spokesperson Dhakal, those who remain missing include 38 from Parsa, 23 from Bara, 13 from Rautahat, 18 from Sarlahi, 10 from Mahottari, 7 from Dhanusha, 12 from Siraha, and 47 from Saptari.

Of the 30 people who have made contact so far out of the 199 missing, Dhakal shared that 2 are from Parsa, 2 from Bara, 6 from Rautahat, 3 from Sarlahi, 7 from Mahottari, 7 from Dhanusha, 1 from Siraha, and 1 from Saptari.

He further stated that the Provincial Police Office coordinates daily with the central office, district administration offices, and directly with families to exchange updates regarding the status of the missing individuals.
