Fourth Edition of ‘Top of the World Golf Classic’ to be Held in Lomanthang on Bhadra 28 and 29

Pokhara:
The fourth edition of the renowned golf tournament, ‘Top of the World Golf Classic,’ to be held at Lomanthang, situated at an altitude of 4,700 meters—the highest golf course in the world—is scheduled for Bhadra 28 and 29. Indradhara Bista, Managing Director of Mustang Golf Course, announced the event during a press conference on Sunday.
This year, 55–60 golfers from Nepal and other countries will participate. A separate competition will be held among Nepal’s top four professional golfers, with the winners receiving NPR 30,000, 20,000, and 10,000, respectively. Amateur winners will be awarded attractive trophies.
While previous editions were played on a 9-hole course, this year’s tournament will be held on 18 holes. The highlight of the event is the “Hole in One” prize, which is a decorated horse, described by Bisht as a unique global attraction. Additionally, prizes will be awarded separately for the winner, runner-up, best gross, lady winner, senior winner, closest to the pin, most birdies, and longest drive.
This year’s tournament is themed “Tee for Climate,” aiming to raise global awareness about the climate crisis and promote environmental consciousness. There will also be special performances by renowned folk, modern, and cello artists. The event is supported by both governmental and non-governmental organizations. Lomanthang Rural Municipality and the Gandaki Province Government are the promoters, while Prabhu Bank, City Express, Bahra Singe Beer, German Bakery, and Salty Water among others are sponsors.
According to Bista, there is an ongoing campaign to establish Lomanthang’s golf course as the world’s highest scenic golf course and register it in the Guinness Book of World Records.
