Bhuvan wins Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship

BARDIBAS (MAHOTTARI): Bhuvan Nagarkoti won the title of the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship, the third event under Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025-26, at the par-72 Mithila Nagari Army Golf Club in Bardibas on Thursday.

Bhuvan carded 2-under 70 in the third and final round for the winning total of 9-under 207. He registered a 10-stroke victory over Nepal No 1 pro Niraj Tamang, Tanka Bahadur Karki and Bhuwan Kumar Rokka. He claimed 12th career title and a cheque of Rs 170,000.

Niraj carded even-par 72, while Tanka and Bhuwan Rokka played 2-over 74 each for 54-hole total score of 1-over 217. They earned Rs 102,333 each. Jayram Shrestha (70) and Dhana Bahadur Thapa (71) were tied for fifth at 2-over 218 and they earned Rs 68,000 each.

Dinesh Prajapati carded even-par 72 to finish seventh at 4-over 220 and he earned Rs 57,000. Kumar Kami came eighth at five-over 221 after he played 1-over 73. He received Rs 51,000.

Suman Pariyar and Sanjay Lama finished ninth at 6-over 222 and they earned Rs 44,000 each. Rabi Khadka and Bal Bhadra Rai came 11th at 225 and they received Rs 36,500 each.

Sundar Rai won the amateur section trophy with total score of 5-over 221. He played even-par 72 in the final round. He registered a 16-stroke victory over Prakrit Tamang, who fired 18-over 90 in the third round for total score of 21-over 237.

Winner Bhuvan carded 1-under 35 on both halves. He carded birdies on third and fifth holes and dropped a shot on the fourth hole. On the back nine, Bhuvan carded three birdies on the 11th, 15th and 16th holes against bogeys on the 13th and 14th holes. He set the course record of 5-under 67 in the first round and carded 2-under 70 on the second day.

Niraj played even-par 36 on both the front and back nine. He carded birdies on the eighth and 16th holes, while dropping shots on the fifth and 13th holes, saving par on the remaining 14 holes.
Tanka, meanwhile, finished both the front and back nine at 1-over 37. 

He carded a birdie on the second hole but faced bogies on the fifth and eighth holes. He then dropped another shot on the 14th hole on the back nine.

Bhuwan Rokka played even-par 36 on the front nine, offsetting a bogey on the fifth hole with a birdie on the eighth. He then carded a birdie on the 10th hole and dropped shots on 11th, 14th and 18th holes, for 2-over 38 on the back nine.

A total of 36 golfers, 30 pros and six amateurs, took part in the tournament organised by PGA Nepal under the sponsorship of Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. 

The prizes were distributed to the winners by Madhes Province Chief Hon Surendra Labh Karn, Commander of the Mid-Eastern Division Major General Krishna Bahadur GC, Madhes Province Chief Secretary Kamal Bhattarai, and Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Corporate Vice President Ravi KC.
