Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship to Tee Off in Mithila Nagari
Bardiwas: The third event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26, the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship, is set to tee off on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the newly built Mithila Nagari Army Golf Club in Bardiwas. The championship will be played over 54 holes across three days and will feature a total prize purse of Rs. 1,050,000.
The tournament winner will receive Rs. 170,000, while the runner-up and third-place finisher will earn Rs. 125,000 and Rs. 100,000, respectively. Players finishing within the top 18 positions will also share the prize money.
A total of 31 professional golfers and six amateurs (handicap 5 or below) will compete for top honors. Leading the list of contenders is the current Order of Merit No. 1 and winner of the previous event, Niraj Tamang. Other main contenders include Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Dhana Thapa, Dinesh Prajapati, and Jayaram Shrestha.
After 36 holes, a cut will be applied, with the top 18 professionals and amateurs advancing to the final round.
The Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26 comprises eight tournaments, offering a combined prize pool of Rs. 8 million, and continues its legacy as Nepal’s premier professional golf circuit.
This marks the first time Mithila Nagari is hosting a Surya Nepal Golf Tour event. The course has been well prepared for the championship and is expected to provide a strong test for professionals and top amateurs alike.
