Surya Nepal Eastern Open Tees Off in Dharan
The second event of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26, the Surya Nepal Eastern Open, is set to tee off on Today Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the picturesque Dharan Golf Club, the jewel of Koshi Province. Sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd., the championship will be played over 54 holes across three days, featuring a total prize purse of Rs. 1,050,000.
The tournament winner will receive Rs. 170,000, while the runner-up and third-place finisher will earn Rs. 125,000 and Rs. 100,000respectively. Players finishing within the top 18 positions will also share the prize money.
The championship will culminate on Saturday, January 17, 2026, with a Pro-Am event, offering amateur golfers a unique opportunity to team up with professionals in an exciting and engaging format.
A strong field of 29 professional golfers and 22 amateurs (handicap 5 or below) will compete for honors. Leading the list of contenders is current Order of Merit leader and defending champion Niraj Tamang, who will also enjoy home-course support as the local favorite. He will face stiff competition from seasoned professionals Sukra Bahadur Rai, Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Dinesh Prajapati, Jayaram Shrestha, Sanjay Lama, and Dhana Thapa.
After 36 holes, a cut will be applied, with the top 18 professionals and amateurs advancing to the final round.
The Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025–26comprises eight tournaments, offering a combined prize pool of Rs. 8 million, continuing its legacy as Nepal’s premier professional golf circuit.
