Security Chiefs Urge Calm After PM Oli’s Resignation Accepted
Kathmandu — Security chiefs have urged the public to remain calm, citing the heavy loss of lives and property during the protests that began on Monday in Kathmandu and other parts of the country.
On Tuesday, issuing a joint statement, the Chief Secretary, the heads of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Home Secretary, and the Chief of the National Investigation Department appealed for restraint. They stated that the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has already been accepted and called on all sides to prevent further casualties.
The appeal reads:
“Since the resignation of the Right Honorable Prime Minister has already been accepted, we sincerely request all citizens to remain calm in this critical situation to avoid further loss of lives and property. We also appeal to all concerned to seek a peaceful solution through political dialogue at the earliest possible.”
