Sahalesh Youth Club, Siraha Enters Semifinals of Arju Rice Major Late N.B. Rungmahang International Invitational Running Gold Cup

Morang: Sahalesh Youth Club, Siraha has advanced to the semifinals of the Arju Rice Major Late N.B. Rungmahang International Invitational Running Gold Cup held in Belbari-11, Laxmimarg, Morang.

In Wednesday’s quarterfinal match, Sahalesh Youth Club defeated Church Boys United Club, Lalitpur by 3–1 goals.

In the 25th minute of the first half, Church Boys’ jersey number 9, Aakash Rai, scored the opening goal to give his team the lead. However, in the 37th minute, Sahalesh’s jersey number 17, Aditya Shakya, equalized the score.

Just four minutes into the second half, Sahalesh’s jersey number 8, Jay Gurung, scored to give his team the lead. Later, in the 13th minute, Aditya Shakya scored again, sealing the victory at 3–1 for Sahalesh Youth Club.

With this win, Sahalesh Youth Club will face Bhojpur Football Association, Bhojpur, in the semifinal match scheduled for Ashoj 31 (October 17).

The Man of the Match title went to Sahalesh’s jersey number 17, Aditya Shakya, who received a cash prize of NPR 7,000. The match was graced by Lalit Shrestha, Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Morang, as the chief guest.

Tomorrow’s first semifinal will feature a match between the host team L.X. Football Club, Laxmimarg, and B Division League champion Planning Boys United Club, Kathmandu.

According to club president Bikram Rai, the tournament is being jointly supported by Belbari Municipality and sponsored by Arju Rice Mill. The winning team will receive NPR 800,000, while the runner-up will get NPR 400,000 in cash prizes.

A special running gold trophy worth NPR 800,000, made with 3 kg of silver and 1.5 tola of gold, will be permanently awarded to any club that wins the championship three consecutive times.

The tournament is organized in memory of the late Major N.B. Rai, sponsored by Popiraj Rai and Jyotiraj Rai of Laxmimarg in his honor.
