Proton and Jagdamba Motors Launch Malaysia’s First EV in Nepal

Kathmandu, August 18, 2025 – PROTON Malaysia and Jagadamba Motors have strengthened their partnership with the official launch of Malaysia’s first locally developed electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 7, in Nepal.

The milestone highlights a joint commitment to advancing electric mobility in Nepal, where Jagdamba Motors has been the sole authorized distributor of PROTON since November 2018.

Developed in collaboration with Geely, the Proton e.MAS 7 combines advanced EV technology and design tailored for regional markets. The model has already made history in Malaysia, becoming the country’s No.1 EV model as of July 2025, and the top-selling C-segment EV SUV.

The launch event in Kathmandu was officiated by PROTON CEO Dr. Li Chunrong, underscoring the brand’s long-term dedication to the Nepalese market. Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of Proton International Corporation, emphasized that Nepal remains a priority growth market, while also clarifying that Geely has not appointed any official distributor for its own brand in Nepal.

“With Jagadamba Motors, we have successfully brought Malaysia’s first EV to Nepal. Our combined expertise ensures strong sales, service, and after-sales support, securing our long-term presence here,” said Lim.

Backed by over 14 years of automotive experience, Jagdamba Motors is rolling out a roadmap to support Proton customers in Nepal. By the end of 2025, the company plans to expand to 12 showrooms and service centers across the country, alongside a comprehensive after-sales ecosystem that includes genuine Proton spare parts, certified technicians, advanced diagnostic tools, and streamlined warranty services.
