Prachanda’s Good Wishes on NPL Inauguration: "Floodlit Stadium is a New Era for Nepali Cricket"
Former Prime Minister and coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has extended his best wishes to the entire cricket family on the commencement of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
He called the NPL the biggest cricket tournament connected with Nepal's self-respect and identity and expressed his good wishes to the participating teams, CAN (Cricket Association of Nepal), organizers, and Nepali cricket enthusiasts across the globe.
Prachanda recalled the final match of the ICC World Cup League-2 against the UAE in Kirtipur on Chaitra 2, 2079, stating that the spectators' anger over the poor condition of the playground, despite the historic victory that day, had deeply affected him.
He mentioned that this led him to honor the players in Baluwatar the very next day and instruct the National Sports Council to install modern floodlights and a scoreboard at the Kirtipur ground.
He stated that although the budget was allocated and work began, the construction could not be completed on time due to legal, technical, and administrative reasons. However, he expressed happiness that the NPL could be hosted in a floodlit stadium today due to the continuous efforts of the subsequent government and related bodies.
Prachanda emphasized that Nepali cricket has elevated Nepal's prestige in the world and expressed confidence that this edition will add new energy to the development, expansion, and professional height of the sport.
Furthermore, he stressed that the government must quickly advance the construction of other stadiums declared as projects of national pride.
