Pokhara Avengers Promote Glacier Conservation Through Sports

The Pulsar Sports Award 2081, organized by the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum, has successfully concluded in Kathmandu. The event honored athletes, coaches, and sports organizations for their outstanding performances throughout the year.

During the ceremony, the Pokhara Avengers cricket team shared an important message about "Glacier Conservation," linking sports with environmental responsibility.

Subodh Tripathi, the Chairperson of Pokhara Avengers and an engineer, expressed serious concern over the rapid melting of Himalayan glaciers. He stated that the team launched this campaign to raise awareness through sports, which is a very popular platform. Chairperson Tripathi explained that glaciers are directly connected to Nepal’s water resources, agriculture, tourism, and overall lifestyle.

He warned that climate change and melting glaciers could cause major problems for drinking water, energy production, and natural balance in the future. Because of this, he believes everyone must work together to protect the environment. The Pokhara Avengers have been promoting glacier conservation through their team jerseys, public appearances, and various events during tournaments.

Chairperson Tripathi added that sports should not only be about competition and entertainment but should also take social and environmental responsibility. Participants at the award ceremony praised the initiative, noting that connecting sports with the environment will help raise awareness among the younger generation.
