Nepali Batsman Ishan Pandey Scores Half-Century Against America
Kathmandu. Nepali team batsman Ishan Pandey scored a half-century in Friday's match against America. Completing a half-century against America under the ICC World Cup League-2 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Pandey made 82 runs off 81 balls.
He had also scored a half-century in the match against Scotland on May 18 (Jestha 4). This is his second half-century in the ongoing One Day International tri-nations cricket series in Kirtipur. By playing two consecutive important innings, he has given indications of establishing himself as a reliable batsman for the Nepali team.
Pandey, who got an opportunity as a new face in the Nepali national team, has drawn the attention of supporters and cricket analysts by delivering an impressive performance at the very beginning of his international career. Having shown the ability to bat with composure in difficult situations, he has raised further hope for the future of Nepali cricket. Enjoying the enthusiastic support of fans on home ground, Pandey is now being looked upon as one of the rising talents of Nepali cricket.
He is a left-handed batsman and a part-time off-break bowler. Harboring an interest in cricket since childhood, he started his journey through age-group cricket. He had shown his talent playing for the Nepal U-19 team. After that, following consistent good performances in domestic cricket, he got an opportunity in the national team.
In 2019, he made his T20 International debut against Zimbawe under the Singapore Tri-Series. Ishan's specialty is composed batting and the ability to anchor the innings in difficult situations. After consistently performing well in domestic tournaments, the Nepal A team, and competitions like the Prime Minister Cup, he re-established himself in the national team.
Alongside cricket, he is also considered excellent in studies. He is also a doctor who has completed MBBS studies, which is why he is also known as the 'Doctor Cricketer'.
