NRNA Literary Symposium Concluded
Kathmandu.A literary symposium and multilingual creative recitation program were successfully held through the collaboration of the Language and Literature Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), International Coordination Council, and the Nepal Academy.
This literary event was organized on the occasion of the 22nd Founding Day of the Non-Resident Nepali Association.
The creative recitation program, held at the Devkota Hall of the Nepal Academy, saw the participation of 57 poets. Among them, 25 people recited poems in their respective mother tongues.
The program was inaugurated by the Chancellor of the Nepal Academy, Bhupal Rai, and the NRNA ICC President, Mahesh Kumar Shrestha. Rai, the chief guest of the event, stated that the program, which incorporated all languages, reflected the true Nepali identity.
On the occasion, NRNA President Shrestha stressed the need for Nepalis to be sensitive regarding the issue of language and emphasized the importance of teaching the Nepali language to children growing up abroad. He also gave the example of establishing a school in Japan to teach Nepali studies for this purpose.
NRNA Former General Secretary Janaki Gurung, Head of the Mother Tongue Department at the Academy Rajana Mukarung, and NRNA Women Coordinator Rashmi Thapa also emphasized the role NRNA must play in the preservation of the Nepali language.
Poets and media contributors including Bishal Nalbo, Mithoj Sunuwar, Mim Bahadur Pariyar, Sojho Gaunle, Ramesh Paudel, Bimala Tumkhewa, Sirjana Magar, Manoj Nyaupane, Maniraj Singh, Anju Rajbanshi, Omkrishna Shrestha, Jagat Bashishtha, Janak Rasik, Ganesh Tambule Rai, Dambar Thami, Nishesh Angdembe, Padam Balahang Rai, Pemba Gelu Sherpa, Bhumika Tharu, Rakesh Bahadur Budhamagar, Jog Bahadur Budhamagar, Sharmila Rana Tharu, Shobha Sunuwar, Rachana Moktan, Sneha Jha, Alok Tiwari, Manu Thada Magar, Mani Lohani, Sandhya Pahadi, Devendra Khapung, Sita Tumkhewa, Radhika Kalpit, Vijay Hitan, Govindaman Singh Karki, Tirtharaj Bhatta, Yograj Rajan, Ritesh Tripathi, Bimla Gurung, Pragati Rai, Prakriti Tharu, Shilakha Tambule, Janardan Adhikari, Rabindra Ashish, Jayash Jaya, Sangeeta Kali, Shasishree Acharya, Chetnath Dhamala, Shani Limbu, Uttam Tumsa, Swapnil Smriti, Sunil Angbo, Mira Shrestha, Jumauna Paudel, Karna Dayal, Rashmi Rimal, Sushila Ninam Rai, Pratapsingh Nachhiring, Niranta Tumbapo, Deepa Laxam, Sita Tumkhewa, Dolma Sherpa, Dasiram Tharu, and Parshuram Tharu, among others, presented their creations.
The program was chaired by NRNA ICC Vice President and Coordinator of the Language and Literature Committee, Bishwas Deep Tigela, while the Member Secretary of the Academy Council, Dr. Dhan Prasad Subedi, welcomed the participants, and the program was moderated by the member of the Language and Literature Committee, Amit Thebe.
