31st Anniversary of Nepal Engineering College Celebrated

Kathmandu. The 31st anniversary of Nepal Engineering College (NEC), Duwakot, Changunarayan, Bhaktapur, was celebrated on Thursday in Bhaktapur.

Inaugurating the annual celebration, Jeevan Khatri, Chief of Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur, and Chairperson of the College Management Committee, emphasized that NEC, one of the country’s best colleges, must continue moving forward at the same pace. He stated that, as a guardian, he is ready to take any necessary steps for this purpose.

He also said that he is ready to return the 174 ropani land currently being used by the college, which was initially given for Bir Hospital. He explained that since he had already allocated the land to the hospital before becoming mayor, he was unable to transfer it to the college even if he wanted to. He added, “If all of you cooperate, I am ready to fight for it again.”

Principal Co-Principal Durgaprasad Bhandari gave a presentation on the past, present, and future of the college, which has a 31-year history. He clarified that the college, which started as a non-profit social institution, is being run accordingly. For this reason, he mentioned that half of the annual budget is allocated for scholarships.

The program also included discussions on various aspects of the college by Co-Principal Mohandhwaj KC, member of the College Management Committee and Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 2, Changunarayan Municipality, Som Pradhan, college professors and teachers represented by College Management Committee member Professor Savitri Tripathi, another committee member and Coordinator of the Daily Operations Committee Naresh Khadka, and committee member Santosh KC.

During the program, six teachers and staff who have served more than 20 years were honored. The honored individuals were Shobha Khanal, Arjun Thapa, Pralhad Nyaupane, Jagannath Aryal, Sumitra Shakya, and Bikash Khadka. They were felicitated by Municipal Chief Khatri, who presented them with a shawl, cash, and a certificate of appreciation.

This college, run with a non-profit objective, is registered and operated under the District Administration Office, Bhaktapur. Earlier, a floral tribute was paid at the statue of the college’s founding chairperson, the late Deepak Bhattarai.
