Nepal Hockey Association to Host National Men’s and Women’s Hockey Tournament
Kathmandu – The Nepal Hockey Association has announced that it will organize the National Men’s and Women’s Hockey Tournament from Falgun 4 to 11. The association shared this information during a press conference on Friday.
The national hockey tournament will be held at Dasharath Stadium. In the competition, six teams will compete in the men’s category and five teams in the women’s category.
For the men’s tournament, teams from Madhesh Province, Gandaki Province, Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Sudur Paschim Province, and Nepal Police Club will participate.
The men’s teams will be divided into two groups and play in a league-cum-knockout format.
In the women’s category, teams from Koshi Province, Gandaki Province, Madhesh Province, Sudur Paschim Province, and Bagmati Province will compete in a round-robin league system.
The top three teams in both men’s and women’s tournaments will receive cash prizes of NPR 75,000, 50,000, and 25,000, respectively. Outstanding players in each category will be awarded NPR 5,000, and the “Player of the Match” for each game will receive NPR 2,000. The total estimated expenditure for organizing the tournament is around NPR 4 million.
Secretary General of the Nepal Hockey Association, Subarna Shrestha, said, “We have been organizing programs according to the annual hockey calendar.
Despite limited infrastructure, we have acquired land in Dhulikhel and prepared the DPR, and the EOI process is currently underway.”
