Mugu Village: The Origin of Mugu District (Photos)
Mugu Village is a beautiful settlement reached after a two-day trek from the district headquarters, Gamgadhi, which is situated at an altitude of approximately 3,300 meters above sea level.
This village, located in Ward No. 2 of Mugu's Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality, is believed to be the namesake of the Mugu district.
Only Buddhist adherents reside here. Due to the extremely cold winters, the people here often descend to lower-lying areas.
This village, which has 120 households and borders China, is enhanced by the surrounding religious Buddhist monasteries (Gumbas), Chortens (Chityam), the Himalayas, and the Mugu Karnali River, all of which add to its aesthetic and touristic beauty.
