“After ‘Meera’ and ‘Shirishko Phool,’ Kantipur’s new production — ‘Maharani Ko Jatra’”(Photos)
Kathmandu — After the successful plays Meera and Shirishko Phool, Kantipur Theatre under Kantipur Film Academy is set to stage a new play titled Maharani Ko Jatra. The play will be performed regularly starting from Shrawan 24.
Having introduced actress Rekha Thapa to the stage through Meera and brought actor Jeevan Luitel back to the theatre through Shirishko Phool, Kantipur Theatre is once again expected to become a topic of public discussion with this new production.
This is the third production of Kantipur Theatre, which has been gradually attracting new audiences, filmmakers, actors, and journalists to the stage. According to theatre artists, the continuous efforts of Kantipur Theatre are helping make Nepali theatre more professional and expansive.
In Maharani Ko Jatra, experienced film and theatre artists Usha Rajak and Raj Nyaupane will play the lead roles. Alongside them, new actresses Suhana Acharya and Nikita Acharya will also appear on stage.
The play is conceived and directed by Dipal Baral, who has long experience in theatre training and direction. It is produced by Remesh Puri.
Other cast members include Dipesh Gajurel, Bikalp Oli, Jyoti Lama, Sameer Sharma, Bishal Karki, Govin Paudel, Shridhar Gautam, Prayas Khatri, Bimal Yadav, Manoj Tamang, Biran Dahani, Sweta Chaulagain, and Kushal Baskota. All the actors are students and members of Kantipur Film Academy and Theatre.
The play will be performed at Kantipur Film Academy, Gairidhara, from Kartik 24 to Mangsir 20 (early November to early December), every evening at 5 PM, except on Wednesdays.
The ticket price has been set at Rs. 300 for students and theatre artists, and Rs. 500 for general audiences.
