Kathmandu. Tribhuvan Army Club has won the title of the Li-Ning Basketball Tournament. On Saturday, in the final held at Dunkmandu in Bouddha, organized by the Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA), Army defeated Solo Basketball Club 108–77.

Twelve teams competed in the tournament, which served as a qualifier for the Himalayan Java National Basketball League (HJBL). According to the rules, four teams from this tournament were to qualify for the league. Along with Army and Solo, Royal Sports Central and Playbox Arena, who reached the semifinals, have qualified for the second season of the league.

The four qualified teams and the top four teams from the first edition of HJBL—defending champions Times, runners-up Golden Gate, Hounds, and Kirtipur—will participate in the second season.

Bhim Singh Gurung, President of the Nepal Basketball Association, stated that preparations are underway to organize the second season of HJBL this coming March. "Previously, we held the basketball league.

This time, we held a qualifier for the league. Now, the four qualified teams and the top four teams from the previous HJBL, making a total of eight teams, will play in the league," President Gurung said. "NeBA has organized a league qualifier for the first time in South Asia."
