Grand Opening of National Kasthamandap Karate Tournament 2082 in Kathmandu
Kathmandu: The National Kasthamandap Karate Tournament 2082 commenced in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The tournament, organized by the Nepal Shito-Ryu Karate Association Branch Dojo Lainchaur at the Dasharath Stadium Covered Hall in Tripureshwar, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest and Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, Ram Charitra Mehta.
Players from all seven provinces—Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim—as well as departmental teams including the Nepal Army, APF, and Mahendra Police Club, are participating in the competition. Program Coordinator Ram Kumar Tharu informed that competitions are being held across various weight categories for both men and women.
The winning team of the tournament will be awarded a cash prize of 100,000 rupees, while the runner-up team will receive 50,000 rupees. During the opening ceremony, Rehan Javed and Niruma Dong, outstanding athletes from the dojo who performed excellently in international competitions, were honored with 20,000 rupees each. According to the organizers, the tournament will run until Friday.
