India Wins Opening Match of ICC T20 World Cup 2026
Kathmandu. India has made a winning start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. In the match held on Saturday night, India secured a victory by defeating the USA by 29 runs.
Chasing a target of 162 runs, the USA managed to score only 132 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. For the USA, Shubham Ranjane and Sanjay Krishnamurthi both scored 37 runs each. Similarly, Milind Kumar contributed 34 runs, but it was not enough for a victory.
For India, Mohammed Siraj took three wickets. Arshadeep Singh and Axar Patel claimed two wickets each. Prior to that, batting first after losing the toss at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium, India scored 161 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Indian team captain Suryakumar Yadav played an explosive innings and scored a brilliant half-century.
Facing 49 balls, Yadav made 84 runs including 10 fours and 4 sixes. Ishan Pandey scored 20 runs while Tilak Varma contributed 25 runs. Abhishek Sharma was out for zero. Axar Patel added 14 runs.
