India Defeats West Indies to Enter T20 World Cup Semifinals
Kathmandu. India entered the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup after defeating West Indies by five wickets in a match held on Sunday night. India will now play the semifinal against England on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium.
Batting first at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, West Indies scored 195 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 over. Roston Chase scored 40 runs, while Jason Holder remained unbeaten on 37. For India, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets.
West Indies set a strong score by adding 70 runs in the final five over. When the team's score was 125 for 4 in 15 over, Rovman Powell and Holder shared an unbeaten 76-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
In response, chasing a target of 196 runs, India had a weak start. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan were out for 10 runs each. Tilak Varma made 27 runs, while captain Suryakumar Yadav added 18 runs.
However, Sanju Samson led India to victory with a brilliant unbeaten innings of 97 runs. He hit 12 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. With this win, India has reached the semifinals of the tournament and advanced its journey toward the title.
