Hounds Academy Wins Westminster Basketball Tournament Title

Kathmandu — Hounds Academy clinched the title of the Westminster College (TWC) Basketball Tournament, defeating Herald College in a nail-biting final held at the TWC campus in Kupondole on Monday. The tournament was organized as part of TWC’s “Week of Welcome” program.

Out of 42 registered colleges and academies, 32 teams were selected to compete after the qualification process. Among them, 26 colleges including The British College, Herald College, Global College, St. Xavier’s College, Triton International College, Kanjirowa College, Trinity College, Prasadi Academy, NASA College, Orchid International College, and Kathmandu College of Central State participated, alongside six basketball academies such as Hounds, Downtown, Ballers, and Elite.

In the thrilling final, Hounds Academy edged Herald College by 21–20 points. The winning team received a trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, while the runner-up Herald College bagged a trophy, medals, certificates, and Rs. 10,000. Hounds’ Simon Gurung was declared the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), receiving a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 3,000.

Awards were presented by Arun Lal Joshi, Head of College at TWC, and Subash Gauli, Events and Engagement Manager. Expressing delight at the significant participation in the very first edition, Manager Gauli pledged to make the tournament more organized and refined in the coming years.
