The greatest festival of Nepalis, Bada Dashain, has officially begun today. On the first day of Nabaratri, Ghatasthapana was observed across the country with traditional rituals.
From early morning, devotees thronged the famous Bhadrakali Temple in the capital to offer prayers and perform vehicle worship. Worshippers prayed to Goddess Durga for peace, prosperity, and well-being throughout the year, adorning their vehicles with garlands and offerings.
On this day, a sacred Kalash (vessel) is ritually established, invoking Goddess Durga’s divine power. The water in the Kalash will later be used on the ninth day, Bijaya Dashami, for the ritual of Durga Abhishek, after which devotees receive it as prasad.
With the beginning of Dashain, temples and shrines across the country have seen an increasing flow of devotees.
