The first KIEC Pokhara Seven-A-Side Veteran Football Tournament is scheduled to be held in Pokhara starting tomorrow, organized by the Vibrant Football Club.
The competition will take place at the old Tundikhel ground located in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 1. During a press conference held on Tuesday, coordinator Birendra Gurung informed that the tournament has been organized with the objective of maintaining mutual brotherhood among veteran players.
He stated, "We believe this tournament will help veteran players reminisce about their youth. Our plan is to bring back to the field old players who played football in their youth and are now living with their families or are still involved in football."
He added, "This is not just a competition; it is also a place to expand our mutual brotherhood and relationships." He requested everyone for their support and cooperation as they are organizing the tournament for the first time.
According to him, a total of 18 teams, including those from various districts of Gandaki, will participate in the competition. The winner of the competition will receive one lakh rupees along with a shield, medal, and certificate, while the runner-up will receive 60 thousand rupees along with a shield, medal, and certificate.
Similarly, the best player will receive 5 thousand rupees and the highest goal scorer will receive 3 thousand rupees. The organizers estimate that it will cost about 9 lakh 60 thousand rupees to run the competition. The tournament will run for four days.
