England Secures Semifinal Spot with Victory Over Pakistan
Kathmandu. England has entered the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup by defeating Pakistan. England secured its spot in the semifinals with a 2-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Super 8 match held at the Pallekele Stadium in Sri Lanka.
After winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing a winning target of 165 runs, England reached 166 runs in 19.1 overs with the loss of 8 wickets to complete the chase.
Captain Harry Brook played a century innings in England's victory. He scored 100 runs off 51 balls, including 10 fours and 4 sixes. While openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler returned to the pavilion cheaply, Harry Brook's century led England toward victory. Sam Curran scored 16 runs and Will Jacks scored 28 runs. Liam Dawson remained unbeaten on 1 run and Jofra Archer on 5 runs.
In terms of bowling for Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi took the most with 4 wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Tariq took 2 wickets each.
England reached the semifinals by earning 4 points with two consecutive wins.
