Morang wins the 'Dream to Play T-Twenty Cricket Tournament'

Kathmandu - Following the conclusion of the final day's matches of the DREAM TO PLAY tournament organized by Biratnagar Kings in collaboration with the Koshi Province Cricket Association, Morang secured the title by finishing at the top of the points table.

Played in a single round-robin league format, Morang accumulated 8 points with clear victories in all four of their matches. Jhapa, Sunsari, and Ilam secured 6, 4, and 2 points, respectively, while Udayapur, having lost all their games, finished at the bottom of the table.

Prem Kumar Kamat of Morang, who took a total of 11 wickets in the tournament, was declared the Best Bowler. Kamat bowled 16 overs, conceded only 40 runs with an economy of 2.50, including 2 maidens. Similarly, Akash Sarraf of Sunsari was named the Best Batter of the tournament, scoring a total of 130 runs with a strike rate of 121.5, including 4 sixes and 13 fours.

The Player of the Tournament award went to Lav Kamat of Ilam. He took 7 wickets, conceding 40 runs in his 16-over bowling spell, with a strike rate of 65.4 and an economy of 2.50.

A total of 72 players participated in the tournament, which featured 10 matches. A total of 1395 runs were scored and 160 wickets fell. There were 22 maiden overs, 46 sixes, 99 fours, and two half-centuries were scored.

In the first match on the final day, which concluded yesterday, Morang defeated Ilam by one wicket. Batting first, Ilam was all out for a total of 86 runs. Morang successfully chased the target of 87 runs with one wicket remaining. Prem Kumar Tamang, who took 5 wickets for 14 runs in his 4-over spell, was chosen as the Player of the Match.

Similarly, in the second match of the day, Jhapa defeated Sunsari by three wickets. Batting first, Sunsari managed to score only 124 runs, losing 9 wickets. Deepu Bhusal, who was chosen as the Player of the Match, scored 42 runs off 46 balls with the help of three fours.

Under-23 teams from five districts of Koshi Province—Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, and Ilam—competed in this cricket tournament. Expressing happiness over the successful completion of the tournament, the organizers stated that it provided a platform for emerging players to showcase their talent and fulfill their cricket dreams. 

Young players who performed exceptionally well in the tournament will now join the Biratnagar Kings' Development Squad for practice sessions with the team.

Furthermore, they will get various opportunities to develop their skills by practicing with players who have national and international experience and to advance their professional cricketing career.

One player selected for the Development Squad will get a special opportunity to secure a spot in the Biratnagar Kings' main squad for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL).
