9th Everest Valley-wide Basketball Tournament Begins in Bhaktapur
With the main motto of "Friendship First, Competition Second," the 9th Everest Valley-wide Basketball Tournament, organized by Everest English School, Mibachhe Byasi, Bhaktapur, kicked off on Thursday.
The tournament, which began with the proclamation "Either we win, or we learn," was inaugurated amidst a ceremony by Hari Prasad Basukala, the Ward Chairman of Bhaktapur Municipality Ward No. 2 Byasi, where the school is situated. The tournament was officially inaugurated by the chief guest handing over a basketball to the tournament's head coach.
The competition will be held in two groups: boys and girls. The organizers have stated that 44 teams from 27 schools are participating in the tournament. A total of 528 students will be participating in the competition. It has been reported that the competition will be conducted in four categories.
During the inauguration ceremony, Bhakta Rajbhandari, the Founder Principal of the organizing school, informed that they have been conducting the tournament annually since the year 2072 BS with the main slogan "Friendship First, Competition Second." However, he mentioned that there was a two-year gap due to Corona.
Ram Gopal Karmacharya, Chairman of the School Management Committee, informed that they have been organizing the tournament with the objective of providing support to advance the sports sector. It is stated that the competition will run until Mangsir 24.
