Pokhara, Dec 3 : Nepal has made a victorious start in the first match of women football championship under the 13th South Asian Games underway here. In the match held at Pokhara Stadium, hosts Nepal defeated Sri Lanka by one goal to nil.
Although Nepal put the Sri Lankan team under pressure throughout the game, it managed to score in the last minute. Saru Limbu netted the ball for Nepal in the 88th minute. Sri Lanka played a defensive game while Nepal had put it under constant pressure from the start. Sri Lankan goalkeeper Ayomi Vijayrathana easily stopped a shot by Nepali team captain Niru Thapa in the 38th minute of play. (RSS)
